On the one hand, Aussie Gold in Bali is exclusive, difficult to procure and expensive but then we skip to Aussie children being freely offered it. If this wasn't enough, we are informed, through Moore, that an unnamed European in Kerobokan jail described the drug's effect as leaving him unable to move and "brain dead". If the potency of this drug renders a fully grown adult to be both physically and mentally completely incapacitated by it, what the hell would it do a child or young adult. The administering of a death cap mushroom might well be kinder.

Mr Moore I'm seriously concerned by the facts you are presenting and I think a proper investigation is called for. Although given there has been no word from a hungry for scandal media on the topic or any follow-up by relevant departments on such a serious matter, it might be a case for you to simply retract some of your allegations and apologise for the unnecessary fear and alarm you have caused your fellow Australians.

Given rather compelling evidence that Aussie Gold doesn't exist, I'm intrigued as to where the term itself originated. I rather suspect it was conjured up, a bit like the way it mysteriously appears in places you wouldn't expect it. Oh look there's Aussie Gold turning up in the nick of time, just when someone's readily available, good quality, reasonably priced stash suddenly dried up for no reason whatsoever. Maybe that's why it's called Aussie Gold, because it's such a life saver and it has nothing to do with colour at all.

This leads on to another point, if all dried marijuana looks the same and it's green, then why should this marijuana be gold or yellowish in colour. It all seems so conveniently marketable to an Australian audience, who were defending their all Australian girl in strife in a foreign land. It's like,I know, let's hit them with and replace the girl with different Australian symbolism.

Given the special Aussie drug didn't exist it was possible to call it something that actually goes through to the heart of Australian consciousness and identity. What images are really conjured up by the term "Aussie Gold" - it's golden Aussie beaches, with tanned, muscular lifeguards wearing red and gold, it's Olympic swimming glory, it's beer.

Michael Moore and his "Aussie Gold" went a lot further than simply inventing a drug that would put Schapelle's conviction in a better light, it subliminally encouraged Aussies everywhere to drop Schapelle's plight and focus once again on all those things that give Australia its special appeal and that makes life here so enjoyable. In so doing it encouraged us to turn our back on injustice and to ignore the serious plight of an innocent citizen.Catherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15530019013120878860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8148960309210646700.post-23961896449947345682010-01-09T23:24:43.750+08:002010-01-09T23:24:43.750+08:00Very comprehensive refutation of Moore's nonse...Very comprehensive refutation of Moore's nonsense. The power of tabloid journalism in shaping public opinion is scary (actually, as a foreigner I have trouble sometimes determining which Australian publications are tabloids and which are MEANT to be taken seriously). The most salient points here are (1) Moore's complete lack of specific details - names, dates, method of import - of this alleged Aussie drug trade in Bali, (2) the fact, trumpeted by Moore's article itself, that Bali police are known to sell drugs on their beaches and that it is lunacy to think any westerner would compete with them directly on the same beach, and (3)the lack of response to Moore's article in the rest of Aus. mainstream media. Your Department of Appeasement (DOA) seems to have worked overtime on Schapelle's case, but the truth can't be hidden forever.Desert Rathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07817042802219833396noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8148960309210646700.post-49632401279897776742010-01-09T16:24:44.622+08:002010-01-09T16:24:44.622+08:00This is an outstanding article by DJ Wolf and it o...This is an outstanding article by DJ Wolf and it only goes to show what our government will do to try and bury stuff like this using the media.
Moore's "story" was nothing but a pack of lies and our government knew it, yet they let it run to make Schapelle look guilty!
Why the hell we have a Department of Foreign Affairs is beyond me!
I pity help anyone who travels abroad and get's "set up"...like Schapelle was in Bali by the Bali police...and thinks their government will help sort out the mess! Well, they won't, simple as that, they'll let you rot in some squalid shithole prison rather than confront the other country when they know only too well that the whole thing was a setup and you're innocent!
Lets hope that now some of the media will grow some balls and adhere to their responsibility and start printing "The truth about Aussie gold"...everyone needs to know that Schapelle was innocent and her government...the Australian government abbandoned her like a piece of garbage.donindevrockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02444705638348377064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8148960309210646700.post-63962571934520858072009-03-29T15:09:00.000+08:002009-03-29T15:09:00.000+08:00JournOz will hopefully bring to the attention of m...JournOz will hopefully bring to the attention of more and more Australians how they have been lied to by journalists towing the government line.
It is a slow process, but every day there is another article being written about the lies the Australian Media have told and continue to tell the Australian public.
Americans.Canadians and Europeans are more aware of how the media minipulate what Australians watch and read than Australians themselves.
I believe gutter journalists like Matthew Moore will eventually be exposed for what they are.SHUN HATTONhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02037353875164608643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8148960309210646700.post-21301524588172073842008-01-13T19:22:00.000+09:002008-01-13T19:22:00.000+09:00What is truly disturbing is that while most Austra...What is truly disturbing is that while most Australians believed prior to this article that no one takes marijuana to Bali, this changed for all levels of our society. This article with logic that was so seriously flawed as to be laughable was never questioned, reviewed, critiqued, followed up, scooped or even mentioned by name. I have never seen anything like it and in one bold stroke the future of public control was created. The scarier thing is that there are morons out there who jump on the rumour mill e.g. they claim to have a friend of a friend who smoked it. Get a life!
It's good to know that if we ever find ourselves fighting for justice in a foreign country not only will our government do nothing, but they will allow these harmful (and false) stories to be shoved down our throats - thus turning the public against us. Hopefully it won't be long until we can confirm exactly who is planting/encouraging these stories.Jacquihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08621885573831362300noreply@blogger.com
